The big news is that I have finished the major projects – three, four year old cardigans.
and the Belarra Shawl for my Sister-in-Law from Perth.
I took the projects with me to Port Douglas where we went for a wedding.
We have had several trips away in the last couple of months. We stayed on the Sunshine Coast – my favourite place – with my daughter and grandsons, and visited friends and relations. The boys had a wonderful time at the beach, in the pools, visiting Underwater World and Australia Zoo.
Then we attended a conference in Brisbane. We stayed at Southbank and really enjoyed the beautiful rainforest created on the riverbank. It was great to walk around the city, and see that they have kept a lot of the heritage buildings and facades. We visited the Town Hall and loved the architecture, and the way it has been preserved. My grandfather cut up the floorboards at his sawmill, so it has special meaning for me
The next trip was to Port Douglas for a family wedding. My brother’s son from Perth was the groom. It was great to catch up with all their family. I took the three cardigans up to give to the three little girls, and the shawl for my sister-in-law. We absolutely loved Port Douglas, and the surrounding countryside. We drove over the Atherton tableland and stopped at waterfalls, and amazing fig trees. Then we stayed in Cairns, and really enjoyed that too. Unfortunately we didn’t go out to the Great Barrier Reef, as all the cruises were booked out, but we did take an amazing Skyrail trip which went for 10km over the rainforest,
We then did the return trip in the historic train. The line was made in the 1900’s.
Following this, we went to Melbourne for another conference. In between times, I struggled to keep up with work assignments.
Next Knitting Project
My next large project will be a cabled sweater for my husband. I spent a lot of time checking out Aran sweaters, and different cables. I added lots more pins of cable patterns and men’s sweaters to my Pinterest boards. Whenever I undertake a new project I spend a huge amount of time deciding on the overall pattern and the stitch pattern. Watch this space.
